Testimonials
My mom has made Heritage Place her home for a year now. I recommend Heritage Place without any reservations. The grounds and buildings are always beautiful and well maintained. The food is consistently excellent. I am most impressed with the human aspect of the place. Early on the management said to me their goal was to make Heritage Place a real home for their residents. They have succeeded in this. My mom takes advantage of the social activities and both she and my family have appreciated the extra personal help that has been given whenever we have needed it. So happy we chose Heritage Place!
What Heritage Place offers and the fees charged are so much better than where I am from.
My family and I are so happy to know that our Mom/Grandmom is part of a safe, friendly, and nurturing environment that also allows her to maintain her independence.
Our family was very pleased with the attractive setting, the quality of the suites and the facilities for entertainment at Heritage place. We did feel that the staff went out of their way to help my mother as she had a number of very difficult health problems. She made good friends there and was fully adjusted to the idea that Heritage Place was her permanent home. She definitely wanted to spend her last days in this friendly environment. Thank you for helping us to get through a very difficult time in her life.
Heritage Place is a delightful place. Everyone is so friendly and helpful.
My mother found Heritage Place ideal for her needs. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. Too bad she didn’t move in earlier!
I have found my little piece of paradise!
The time that my mother lived at Heritage Place was extremely positive for her. She was a reserved person yet she made good friends there and enjoyed the family atmosphere. As a daughter living off-island, Heritage Place was a God-send for me. It provided reassurance and confidence that my mom was being properly cared for and that she was happy.
If one adds up the cost of keeping up a home, the Heritage Place fees are very reasonable considering all that is included.
I moved into Heritage Place in February after a month in Hospital recovering from a fairly severe stroke I had in mid January. My speech, writing and swallowing have been permanently impacted. I love living here in every way! The employees are kind, compassionate and patient with elderly residents, but also trained and experienced in elder needs. In addition they are also loving, caring, happy and pleasant in their daily work with us. Therefore, my fellow residents are the most contented bunch of old people you can find anywhere. This is truly a wonderful environment in which to spend one’s declining years. There is a lot of laughter here in our very troubled world. I strongly recommend this place and wish to mention a few names I’m aware of who have helped often; there are many names I can’t remember! Sandi, Donna, Sharla, Jeannie, Alisa, Karen, Jesse, Derek and the wonderful gardener and Nirmal.
I wanted to take a moment to say a few words about the care my Dad received during his relatively brief stay at Heritage Place. We were all absolutely impressed with the high degree of care and compassion that my Dad received while at Heritage Place. Every member of the staff treated my father with respect, bolstering his sense of dignity. A very private person, my father cherished the ample personal space that was provided to him, yet he recognized that a mountain of support was immediately available to him when necessary. I would particularly like to comment on the care that he received from Sandi. Sandi provides care and assistance without condescension. Her obvious natural empathy for clients and well developed nursing skills gave us a genuine and strong feeling of security; so important when there is a physical distance between those requiring care and the extended family. Thank you to all those involved in my father’s stay.
I have lived at Heritage Place Assisted Living for one year and I most highly recommend it to all elderly persons and their loved ones. Donna and Sandi and all people they employ are fully trained, not only in care and safety of the residents, but more importantly in patience, loving kindness and compassion towards each individual. We suffer from all conditions from dementia, to loss of memory, to organ and mobility failure, and still our lives are filled with laughter, joy and well-being, thanks to our beautiful caregivers.
As they say, hindsight is 20/20. A warm and positive experience with in-depth family consultation regarding care plan towards the best possible outcome for my post hip replacement, memory challenged mother-in-law. The management and staff were knowledgeable, kind, supportive and enthusiastic. Heritage Place is a delightful and affordable option for stepped elder care on SSI; our only regret was not considering Heritage Place much sooner in our elder’s slow decline.
You have a beautiful place, great people working there and it was a perfect place for mom to spend the time there that she had and she deserved it. Thank you from myself & all my family and especially from my mom for everything you have all done for her.
Sandi and the ‘girls’ gave Ron back his dignity after we removed him from the hospital. They treated him as an individual with respect and loving care.
I am so grateful to the staff at Heritage Place for their dedicated service to my parents during their three-year stay in the facility. My parents were able to live as independently as possible for as long as they could. The property is conveniently located with proximity to groceries, drug store, transportation and the hospital. Under Sandi’s watchful eye, Assisted Living services were increased seamlessly over the years until my parents both needed the 24 hour care only a nursing facility can provide. Visiting a couple of times annually, I came to feel Heritage was partially my home, and the staff my family. There is a steady calendar of activities for residents who choose to participate; I loved to see the bridge group in the afternoons and to hear the chatter around the breakfast table. Having shared many meals there, I found the food delicious. The staff continually went above and beyond to provide outstanding care, and I was touched to see the kind and gentle attitudes they always demonstrated towards my parents. I wish Heritage only success in future expansion and in continuing to give the care it gives so well.
My mother had the privilege of living at Heritage Place for almost 2 years. She appreciated the beauty & elegance of this bright & charming residence. Tasteful decor, gourmet meals, hours spent on her private patio surrounded by well-tended gardens & greenery. But the best part is the staff – kind, courteous, loving & professional. I am so thankful to them! Especially Sandy, she is outstanding! Her tireless dedication is exceptional, not only a support to my mother, but to me as well. I am so grateful to her for guiding us through the difficult ups & downs of dementia, in such a caring, intuitive & loving way. Thank you all who have been so devoted to my mother’s care.
For the duration of my mother’s stay at Heritage Place, she received the utmost of compassionate care and support. The staff, at every level of service, were always available to respond and assist and give of their hearts, time and knowledge. I highly recommend Heritage Place for Seniors to anyone wishing to live in a safe, secure and positive environment. A special thanks and gratitude to Sandi.
We would again like to thank all the people of Heritage Place. Our Dad came to Heritage Place approximately 8 years ago from a community where he had many friends, to a community where he only knew his family. The staff and people of Heritage Place all made my Dad very welcome and he made many new friends. Dinner times were always a time for greeting those friends and enjoying their company. As to all the staff – all I can say is that they provided absolutely exceptional care. Thank you all so much again for creating such a caring environment for our Dad in his last years: many times above and beyond.
Heritage Place would be my first choice for a senior who is independent in nature, but is at the stage where they need a little help with daily living. The setting is beautiful, each suite with an outdoor balcony, dinner served family style. My mother spent her last 3 1/2 years at Heritage Place and grew to love it, feeling absolutely like it was her home. She would sit out on the patio among her potted flowers, breathing in the fresh air and say “Life is good, I know that I am blessed.” We truly believe our Mama Lee lived as long as she did because of the kindness and care she received from everyone at Heritage Place: house cleaners, cooks, and especially the care givers. She was content to bask in the love and friendship. The care givers seemed to recognize who Mom was at heart. They became her advocates and showered her with goodness. Their small considerations and kindnesses nourished her spirits and lit up her days. She saw them as trusted friends, confidants, and pilgrim companions on her journey. Mom had the sense of being an independent woman – a thing she prized so fiercely – yet, when she needed it, someone was there to reach out a hand. Our family cannot recommend Heritage Place highly enough.
My Mom always dreamed of one day returning to Salt Spring Island, and with her move to Heritage Place this dream came true. As her son, living far away on the east coast, it was important for me to be confident that she was safe and that she was enjoying life. Before COVID struck I was able to travel to Salt Spring Island a number of times and visit with her. I was always pleased and impressed with what I saw and experienced, and it was clear that Mon was happy at Heritage Place: great facilities, great staff, great location. Mom especially benefited from the excellent balance between independence and security. As she aged and needed more help, the assisted living component stepped up to the task of keeping her safe while allowing her to continue to enjoy her life, her way. I am forever grateful to manager, Sandi Muller, who built a strong supportive relationship with Mom, and maintained great communication with me. I know that Mom spent many happy and fulfilling years at Heritage Place. That means a lot to me.
I cannot tell you how impressed I have been with Heritage Place and Sandi can walk on water as far as I’m concerned. Rarely have I met anyone so dedicated to the residents, I expect you know that!
I have recommended you very highly to all my aging Salt Spring friends, in fact I could see myself ending up there when the time comes, who knows?
We can’t say enough about how much we appreciated our mom and dad being able to spend their latter years at Heritage Place. The housing and amenities were outstanding but the people that provided their care were the real heroes. They created a great social environment and many of them became good friends as well. Simply the best! Furio & Michela Sorrentino
